Staff Clinician

Austin Nader, he/him, is a staff clinician located at the UC CAPS Calhoun location. He graduated from the University of Indianapolis with his doctorate in clinical psychology, as well as a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Miami University. Austin is currently working towards obtaining independent licensure in Ohio.

Austin often integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and person-centered approaches in his work. He has a strong interest in working with students who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relational concerns, low self-esteem, self-exploration related to one’s beliefs and values, and those who were raised in a traumatic and/or neglectful family environment. Austin is also attentive to the effects of larger systems (i.e., family, society, etc.) on the client’s overall wellbeing and the way in which they view themselves, others, and the world. In the therapy room, Austin creates a space that is both warm and nonjudgmental, allowing clients to explore who they are and what they need to live a happy and fulfilling life.

When not at work, Austin enjoys watching movies, particularly horror movies, running, and listening to music. His favorite band is System of a Down while his current music fixation is the artist Bladee.

If I wasn’t in this line of work, I would be: an NFL commentator. Go Texans!

My favorite sandwich:  The Beach Club (#12) with onions from Jimmy Johns.

Coping skills I recommend to clients that I actually use myself: Square breathing technique. Very easy to do and is a great way to calm your mind and body, reduce stress, and improve focus.
