Eye-opening, lively, dynamic, boundless, and fun!

The University Honors Program provides a supportive experience for students to explore their identity and capabilities, which is exactly what I was looking for. The UHP's flexible structure makes it easy for me to personalize my experience and allows me to learn in such a unique way. I have traveled abroad to learn about my career path and gain firsthand experience in international law, an experience that would not have been possible if I had not been in the Honors Program. Plus, having an honors advisor who wants to connect on an academic and personal level has been so beneficial for my experience! All of the UHP staff and students are kind, intelligent, and compassionate, which has made my time in the program truly rewarding!

My most impactful honors experience was my honors seminar, POL2097: International Institutions. I had the opportunity to take a class with an esteemed professor and learn about the application of international law, as well as the institutions that enforce these laws. After the semester, my class had the opportunity to go on a study tour to Belgium and the Netherlands, where we visited these establishments and spoke with professionals about their work. It was an absolute blast, and I learned not only about my field of study but also about myself and my peers. I got to take a canal tour in the Netherlands, try an authentic Belgian waffle, and explore the streets of Amsterdam with all my best friends. It was an experience I will never forget!

If I could give myself one piece of advice during my first semester, I would tell myself to take in every moment! The UHP offers many fun experiences, especially for incoming and current first-year students, and I wish I had stressed a little less and made sure to enjoy every second!

I am most looking forward to learning and growing through my experiences. I am a member of the UHP Ambassadors Leadership Team for the 2025-2026 school year, and I am thrilled to play a role in such a vibrant and welcoming community of staff and students. I look forward to starting new honors experiences, including a self-designed experience, and seeing what the future holds for me!
